When planning a trip or just a night on the town, we now peruse the app store on our smartphones and tablets in search of the best app option to help us with our hunt. So we pulled together a list of travel apps for you to use on your adventures through Idaho. Whether you’re looking for a great Idaho craft beer or hoping to try your luck on a daredevil bike trail or ski hill, we’ve got you covered.
Craters of the Moon Flower App: Free
Find details on the large variety of wildflowers and other plants found at Craters of the Moon National Monument. This is the official wildflower app of the monument.
Cocktail Compass: Free
The app helps connect you with the closest happy hour. It allows you to search by distance or name and even shows you how long the happy hour lasts and breaks down the deals. When your happy hour adventures end, it will even help you find a ride home.
Idaho 511: Free
This is a travel must-have. You can check out Idaho road conditions, find out where you’ll run into construction, delays, or weather related issues. You also have access to traffic cameras around the state for a sneak peek at conditions.
Idaho Airports: Free
You’ll find information for Idaho airports and aviation facilities.
Komoot: Free
This app caters to hikers and cyclists of all sorts. It offers up topographic maps, turn-by-turn navigation, and will offer up trails you may want to explore nearby. Also available on Apple Watch.
IDFG Mobile: Free (Android only)
Stay up to date on hunting, fishing and wildlife issues with Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s Mobile App. Watch videos, get the latest news and receive updates first.
Boise’s Best Outdoor Adventures: $1.99
This app offers an array of adventures and other community happenings and places of interest in southwest Idaho. You can search topics by name, cost, location, and distance.
Idaho Hot Springs Guide: $.99
This guide will lead you roadside soaks, commercial spas and natural springs deep in the wilderness. Includes map-based navigation, GPS-based distance and written directions. Usable on and off-line and with GPS.
Idaho Hot Springs: $9.99
Guide contains comprehensive coverage of natural and commercial hot mineral water destinations. Features turn-by-turn directions, detailed breakdown of pools, pool temperatures and lodging details. This app works with GPS as well as off-line.
Idaho Wildflowers: $7.99
This app provides images, species, descriptions, and bloom period for more than 750 common wildflowers, shrubs and vines found in Idaho and adjacent areas of Washington, Oregon, Montana and Utah. Does not need internet to run.
Ski Tracks – $.99
Tracks your skiing and snowboarding adventures. Logs speed, ski distance, ski vertical, duration, the number of runs and even GPS tracks each run on the mountain. A good way to stir up a little competition on your next ski trip.
