Things to Know

  • Bring water, sunscreen, a hat, closed-toe shoes, a camera, snacks, and seasonal clothes. Layers of clothing, that can be adjusted to prevailing conditions, are best.
  • Be prepared for unexpected weather changes or medical emergencies, especially when recreating during the winter or in the backcountry.
  • Before you leave, notify a responsible person of your planned route of travel, and time of departure and return. Be sure to check in with that person when you return.
