Visit Idaho’s Travel With Care Initiative Makes Impact at Kuna Park
Nearly a ton of trash and debris removed from Kuna Park along Indian Creek

KUNA, Idaho (September 16, 2025) — Visit Idaho, in partnership with Boise River Enhancement Network and City of Kuna Parks and Recreation, collected a combined total of 1,776.2 pounds of trash and clippings during the annual Travel With Care event along Indian Creek at Kuna Park. The event, held on September 11, marks the first year that Visit Idaho’s Travel With Care event was open to the public. The group picked up trash along the river, trimmed and cleaned up blackberry bush and willow tree clippings, and refreshed the paint under the Bridge Street bridge.

“We are very thankful for Visit Idaho’s partnership with the Travel With Care initiative,” says Jaime Perez, City of Kuna Parks and Recreation Grounds Crew Lead. “We are proud of the work that we do to keep our parks clean and maintained. The Travel With Care initiative allowed us to tackle some larger tasks with a few extra hands to help us while giving Visit Idaho, its partners and the community an inside look into the ongoing work we do to maintain our parks.”

“We are always humbled to see the great work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our outdoor spaces beautiful and clean,” says Jeremy Chase, Tourism and Marketing Administrator at the Idaho Department of Commerce. “We are grateful to organizations like City of Kuna Parks and Recreation and Boise River Enhancement Network for partnering with us to leave these lasting impacts on our parks and rivers.”

In 2022, Visit Idaho launched the Travel With Care initiative to bring awareness to safe and respectful use of the Idaho outdoors. Since then, its efforts have been marked with annual volunteer activities that bring to life the initiative’s focus on promoting the respectful use and care of the great Idaho outdoors among residents and travelers.

“We are thankful for Visit Idaho’s partnership in bringing Travel With Care to Indian Creek in Kuna to help keep this community treasure clean and beautiful,” says Boise River Enhancement Network Coordinator, Marisa Keith. “Keeping our waterways healthy helps nature and helps our communities by fostering responsibility and pride in the places we live and play. Indian Creek is an important tributary of the Boise River, used for many purposes before flowing back into the river near Caldwell and from there to the Snake River, Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. Our efforts not only cleaned up a part of Kuna but also helped to keep trash from flowing to our downriver neighbors.”
