25 miles north of Idaho City off Highway 21, the Beaver Creek Summit trail is designed especially for backcountry Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. At over 6,500 feet, it offers a 360 degree view of the Boise National Forest that includes Pilots Peak, Wilson Butte, Sunset Peak, Rock Creek, and Scott Mountain.

Things to Know

  • Park N' Ski permits are required and available through Idaho Parks and Recreation.
  • Ungroomed in the winter and follows an old road for 1.3 miles and then turns to a single track trail the last .2 miles.
  • The trail is rated more difficult under good snow conditions. There are four short, steep sections requiring advanced backcountry skiing techniques.
