There are five federally recognized tribes in Idaho: the Shoshone–Bannock, Shoshone–Paiute, Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai and Nez Perce.
Sacajawea, who was born in Lemhi County, Idaho and a member of the Agai’dika Shoshone-Bannock tribe, aided the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery.
The Nez Perce National Historic Trail is 1,170 miles long and stretches across multiple states, including Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming and Montana.
