Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or expert looking for your next challenge, Bogus Basin is a must-ski destination.

The Rundown
Bogus Basin is the perfect family skiing destination with 2,600 skiable acres on 1,800 vertical feet. This skier’s paradise sits comfortably towards the top of Idaho’s pure premier ski areas list. What makes Bogus even more appealing is the fact that it’s only 16 miles from downtown Boise. One of the more popular sections of the mountain, Shafer Butte, provides flat-out, massive drop-ins for experienced hotshots that love to rush down the side of the hill, while the wide-spread layout among numerous peaks provides novice riders with a bevy of options to navigate back down to the lodge.
Backcountry tree skiing is plentiful here and fresh powder is never in short supply. With ample off-trail routes to explore be sure to rent a wider set of skis so you can maneuver your way through the never-ending piles of snow.
Did I mention the reasonable pricing you’ll find at Bogus? Considering the huge variety of quality runs and facilities, you might expect that a lift ticket would cost a small fortune. However, this is not the case – lift tickets at Bogus are affordable and the lines are never too long.
